About this journal
The „WTM Wiener Tierärztliche Monatsschrift – Veterinary Medicine Austria“ is a scientific journal of the Austrian Society of Veterinary Medicine (ÖGT). The WTM publishes manuscripts concerning all aspects of veterinary medicine (basic research and clinically applied research) as well as general human medicine and food hygiene topics with veterinary relevance. Submitted manuscripts within the scope of this journal will undergo an independent, anonymous peer-review process. Manuscripts are welcome in German and English language.
The WTM was founded in 1914 to offer a scientific journal with veterinary relevance to Austria. It is the third oldest German-language veterinary journal. In 1929 the WTM became the official organ of the „Reichsvereins der Tierärzte“ and the „Gesellschaft der Tierärzte in Wien und der Wiener Gesellschaft für Mikrobiologen“. From 1943 to 1946, restrictions due to war were necessary in scientific journal publishing, leading to the fusion of the Austrian „Wiener Tierärztlichen Monatsschrift“ and the German „Berliner und Münchner Tierärztlichen Wochenschrift“. All issues from 1914 to 1944 can be digitally viewed on the website of the Austrian National Library (https://anno.onb.ac.at/cgi-content/anno-plus?aid=wtm). Since 1946 the WTM Wiener Tierärztliche Monatsschrift – Veterinary Medicine Austria is published again by the „Österreichische Tierärzteschaft“ and the Austrian Society of Veterinary Medicine (ÖGT – www.oegt.at).
